Image
Name: Californian Roots Sangria  Variety: 42% Zinfandel, 21% Merlot, 15% Syrah, 12% Muscat, 10% Barbera  Region: California  Country: USA  Year: No Vintage  Price: $6.00  Winery Review:   Fruit punch cherry strawberry citrus pomegranate red fruit orange apricot. - (H.H. 3.5/5).    Wine Folly:  I agree with the books primary flavors of strawberry and peach, but this sangria does not have blackberry flavors.    My Review: Smells incredibly fruity strawberry, so much strawberry, some cranberry and orange. Very tart tastes, tastes like cranberry juice, and lots of strawberry. Not very sweet for a sangria. The cranberry juice stays in the aftertaste.

Tasting - Dionysos Fileri Moschofilero

Image
Name: Dionysos Fileri  Variety: Moschofilero  Region: Peloponnese   Country: Greece   Year: 2021  Price: $12.00  Winery Review:   An astringent, crisp wine which pairs well with fish. Better than many higher priced Assyrtios. - (C.B 4/5).   Wine Folly:  I agree with wine folly primary flavors of Moschofilero. The book says potpourri, honeydew, pink grapefruit, lemon, and almond.    My Review: Smells like crisp green apple, citric, and grassy hay. Tastes citrusy, light body, with apple notes. Warm smooth, light body, a very refreshing wine. With a sour aftertaste. Good wine would recommend.

Not too bubbly, but just right. - D.F. (4.75).   Wine Folly: From wine folly, I can taste lemon, orange blossom, and honeysuckle for sure. I can also get hints of the mandarin orange.     My Review: This wine smells like honey and roses. This wine tastes divine, it tastes like sweet apple pie. It's an incredibly spiced apple and honey.  I can’t say enough good things about this wine.

Tasting - Obsession Wines Symphony Mango

Image
Name: Obsession Wines: Symphony - Mango Variety: 100% Symphony Region: California Country: USA Year: No Vintage Price: $6.00 Winery Review: On the nose honeysuckle, lychee, peach, tropical and elderflower. Love the smell- floral and fruity! Tastes like on the nose with additional stone and orange in the aftertaste. On the palate light, semisweet and low acidity. Reminds me of a dryer Moscato. Love it! (S.S - 3.8). Wine Folly: Wine Folly does not have anything about Symphony but worldsbestwines.eu says Symphony tastes lightly citrusy, with a mild sweetness and acid, much like a refreshing drink. My Review: This wine is extremely aromatic. The mango smell is overwhelming, there is no way to get anything other than mango from this wine. This is fantastically easy drinking wine. It's like drinking mango juice, amazing, and almost syrupy.  I would very much recommend this wine for anyone that wants an easy to drink dessert wine.

Tasting - Salmon Run Riesling

Image
Name: Salmon Run Riesling Variety: 100% Riesling Region: Hammondsport, NY. The Finger Lakes Country: USA Year: 2020 Price: $9.00 Winery Review: Tropical fruit, stone fruit, hints of minerality. Off-dry, a little acidic. Light-medium mouthfeel. Slightly floral and honey aromas complimenting taste. (R.R. - 3.7). Wine Folly: I definitely get some of the primary flavors lime and green apple, as described in the book. This Riesling does not have the petroleum flavors of most. It is much more on the fruity side of Rieslings.  My Review: This wine smells of sour orange, green apple, and lemon zest. I also get a slight smell of sulfur and saline. It opens with a strong acidic punch, but has a nice sour citrus, frailty flavor. Specifically, nectarine, green apple, and pomegranate. Leaves a fantastically light after taste. This is a quality Riesling. I would like to pair this with white fish or a light salad.

WINE AND CHEESE PAIRING BLOG REPORT #2

Image
Name: Yellow Tail Pure Bright Chardonnay Variety: 100% Chardonnay Region: Southeastern Australia Country: Australia Year: 2020 Price: $8.00 Cheese: Swiss Cheese Hay, grass, green apple smell. Light taste, slightly dry and acidic. With a grass and vanilla aftertaste. The cheese makes the wine slightly more acidic and adds to the innate creamy flavor of the wine. This pairing kind of works simply because of the light flavor of both.  Name: Bee You Riesling Variety: 100% Riesling Region: California Country: USA Year: 2021 Price: $10.00 Cheese: Muenster Cheese Smells fantastic. Floral and of sweet honeysuckle. The taste does not disappoint, it tastes exactly like it smells. Floral, honeysuckle, lemonade, and sweet tea. New favorite wine I have had so far. Pairing with the cheese works and makes the wine sweeter and brings more orange blossom taste to the wine. The cheese is creamy and works off the sweetness of the wine.  Name: Chateau Saint-Michel Bordeaux Superieur Variety: 100% Merlo
